Planning and Taking a Family Heritage Tour (To be rescheduled when FHP reopens)
Saturday, April 18
Planning and Taking a Family Heritage Tour (To be rescheduled when FHP reopens)  (Meetings)
10:00 am to 12:00 pm
Patrick Heath Public Library, 451 N Main St, Boerne, TX 78006
The Family Heritage Tour allows us to find more about our family history and ancestral origins.  Your Speaker, Jim Westermeier, and his wife, Carol, have taken more than forty trips to many parts of the world.  The favorite trip of all is the 2015 "heritage trip" to Germany tracing Jim's paternal roots.  There is something magical about walking in the steps of your ancestors!

The Westermeiers are longtime active members of the Genealogical Society of Kendall County (GSKC).  Both have served as GSKC Board members and currently as Family History Place volunteers.  They are very happy to be retired and live in Boerne.  Jim's career was as a nuclear engineer and Carol's career as a psychologist.

Joining a Lineage Society and What You Need
Saturday, May 2
Joining a Lineage Society and What You Need  (Education)
10:00 am to 12:00 pm
Family History Place, 114 E. Blanco, Boerne, TX 78006
You may be asking yourself "What is a lineage society?"  It is an organization created to honor a specific heritage or event. Members of of one must prove their descent of that heritage or event through the approved genealogical proof standards.  Sounds interesting, doesn't it?  Our speaker, July McVay, is a sixth generation Texan and has experience following her lineage paths right to the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT).  She is also a member of Daughter of American Revolution (DAR) society plus the Genealogical Society of Kendall County (GSKC).

Judy enjoyed her career as a teaching nursing to 5,000 plus student nurses.  Her husband, Larry, says "I got to Texas as soon as I could" and considers himself Texas through and through.  Judy volunteers regularly at GSKC helping others find their ancestry roots.  Judy and Larry both enjoy traveling...mostly to visit family members.
