10:00 am to 12:00 pm
Family History Place, 114 E. Blanco, Boerne TX 78006
Tricks and Tips: Finding Your German Hometown (English)

When doing research in Germany, it is necessary to know the name of the town(s).  Before "jumping across the pond", so to speak, research in United States records is the first step.  Once you locate the town name(s) in USA records, you will be prepared to locate records in Germany.  Your presenter provides examples and a case study to explain the researching steps.

The presenter, Lloyd Shenberger's interest in genealogy began about 28 years ago when he caught the bug from a cousin.  Lloyd has membership in the National Genealogical Society, Texas State Genealogical Society, Genealogical Society of South Central Pennsylvania, Mid-Atlantic Germanic Genealogical Society, Palatines to America and serveral other local societies in Texas and Pennsylvania.  He is also a trustee for the historic Washington Cemetery in Houston, formerly know as Deutsche Gesellschaft or German Society Cemetery.  His genealogical interest includes 18th century German immigration to Pennsylvania and 19th century German immigration to Texas.  To date, Lloyd has identified 22 ancestors who immigrated from Germany and Alsace to Pennsylvania between 1732-1761.

This class is repeated Monday, June 3, 2019 at same time, same place and same materials.
